6th June 1961: Sam leaps into Cameron ‘Cam’ Wilson, a dorky, acne-riddled seven-year-old hot-rod jockey. In three day’s time, Cam’s sister Cheryl will marry her fiancé Bob Thompson, and after their honeymoon, the newlyweds plan to move to the South Pacific Island of Tonga to join the Peace Corps. However, Bob secretly has no intention of joining the Corp, and his marriage to Cheryl is doomed to failure because of his alcohol problem. Sam must find a way to break off the marriage - and the situation has a personal note for him, as his own sister was also the victim of a wife beater…
